Krystal Thomas was an undergraduate student with minimal experience with chess when she started teaching chess. She taught for several years as a part of a collaborative research project (learn more about that here and here) that used our curriculum. She also taught as a part of our summer chess camp. She is now a Ph.D. student at Virginia Commonwealth University and is part of the team analyzing data from the chess research project mentioned above. Throughout, she has been a highly valued part of the team. As she mentions in the video, when she started teaching chess she was a little uncertain, but she jumped right in and did an amazing job. Now she’s helping teach new team members how to use the curriculum to engage students. Thank you, Krystal!
